Activision Confirms No Jetpacks or Wall-Running in Black Ops 7

Earlier this year, a huge leak sawCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers using an unreleased wall-running mechanic. The feature was accessed usingCall of DutyHQ’s very own in-game files, which led many to believe that the divisive movement system would be added toBlack Ops 7. However, it looks like that’s not the case. In a new episode ofCOD Pod, Activision’s Senior Director of Communications, Stephanie Snowden, discussed the game’s ties toBlack Ops 2, while also noting thatBlack Ops 7is set 30 years beforeBlack Ops 3, which featured both wall-running and jetpacks. Snowden then says, “I can confirm, no wall-running, no jetpacks.”

This might be disappointing news for fans hoping to return to the glory days ofBlack Ops 3, but Snowden did follow up the shocking announcement by revealing that there will be an “evolution” ofBlack Ops 6’s omnimovement systeminBlack Ops 7. While this is where any official news on the game’s movement system ends, reliable insider and leakerTheGhostOfHope did chime inby stating thatBlack Ops 7will actually feature “wall-jumping” and not “wall-running.” If the leak proves to be true, it looks like the nextCall of Dutygame will allow players to jump off of walls, but not run on them like they could inBlack Ops 3.

Black Ops 7’s lack of wall-running and supposed wall-jumping actually gives credibility to apreviousCall of Dutyleak from October 2024. According to a leaked image from aCall of Dutyfocus group,Black Ops 7will feature an “evolution” of omnimovement (which has now been confirmed), a new wall-jumping mechanic, body shield updates, the return of fan favorite mode, Uplink, and more. While many were skeptical of the leak at the time, Activision has confirmed one element to be true, which means there likely will be a wall-jumping feature in the nextBlack Opsgame.
