Michael Connellyalso recently sat down for an interview withThe Los Angeles Timesto promote his new book,Nightshade, which introduces a brand-new character called Detective Stilwell, who solves crimes on the island of Catalina. Michael Connelly also spoke about the Ballard spin-off, and opened up about the level of involvement he has in his television universe.

It looks like I’m super busy because of the TV stuff, but I’m not that involved. I get involved in the setups of the characters in the series, so I go to the first writers’ meeting. I can get my characters going, and then I let them run with it. I went to the (Ballard) set maybe once a week for a couple of hours. But the key to the show is the writing room. And I visited that writing room only twice.

In many ways,it would have been better if Michael Connelly had been more involved with Ballard, especially as he’d spent so many years trying to get it off the ground at Amazon. One ofthe big problemsBallardfaces is the potential lack of authenticity in its portrayal of the detectives in the cold case unit. Connelly has always received positive feedback for his accurate portrayal of law enforcement officers in his books, and this continued on theBoschandBosch: Legacytelevision series. However, it looks likeBallardis populating the cold case unit with younger characters, when it’s typically retired detectives who take on these roles.

The majority of hardcoreBosch: Legacyfans are not happy with what Amazon has done to Michael Connelly’s television universe. However, there is still excitement for the upcoming release ofBallard, and The Los Angeles Times article also stated there would be some surprise appearances forBosch: Legacyfans. It’s unclear if those surprises inBallardwere supposed to beTroy EvansandGregory Scott Cummins' return asCrate and Barrel, which was revealed in exclusive interviews with Game Rant, or if there are special appearances by other legacy characters. Of course, it’s already been revealed thatTitus Welliver will appear in cameos, so it’ll be interesting to see if Madison Lintz,Mimi ‘Tell Amazon’ Rogersor anyone else turns up inBallard.
