Uzumaki Boruto, the titular protagonist of theBorutomanga series, is carving a path far different from his legendary father. While Naruto’s path took him to the Hokage post, becoming the strongest ninja ever, Boruto seems to be heading somewhere even greater: the path to becoming a god. While it may be hard to believe, theBorutomanga can make the most impossible things happen at this point.
From the very beginning, Boruto has learned about different kinds of celestial threats,including the Otsutsuki Clan, the Ten-Tails, and even the concept of Godhood itself. He has yet to take a breather, as Momoshiki Otsutsuki resides within his body, allowing his enemies, such as Jura, to call him Otsutsuki Boruto rather than his real name. Even Kawaki isn’t fond of him, resulting in their long-standing conflict.
How Could Boruto Become a God?
Boruto Is Effectively Part Otsutsuki
Becoming a god could mean different things, depending on how fans define it. For many fans,Naruto has already reached God-level statuslong ago due to his immense strength, even without aligning himself with the Otsutsuki Clan, who are the closest thing to gods in the Naruto and Boruto universe. Not only do they look like gods, but they also possess god-like abilities far superior to any ninjutsu.
For an Otsutsuki to ascend to godhood like Shibai did, they seemingly need to consume chakra fruit from one planet to another until they reach a certain point. By following this logic, it’s clear that Boruto already checks the most important requirement tobecome an Otsutsuki God, as he is effectively part Otsutsuki after his body received the entirety of Momoshiki’s data.
Just because my grandpa and dad are Hokage, doesn’t mean that I have to walk the same path—Boruto.
However, fans know that Boruto is fighting to protect the world from the Otsutsuki Clan, trying his best to prevent the worst-case scenario where aGod Tree grows and bears a chakra fruit. Even so, the manga could always shake things up, changing the course of events. For instance, Boruto could consume Jura’s thorn soul bulb, assuming he has one, amplifying his abilities unlike anything fans have ever seen before.
Boruto Could Surpass the Otsutsuki Themselves
The Potential to Fully Master Momoshiki’s Karma
Boruto, as theson of Naruto and Hinata, imbued with Sasuke’s teachings, and trained by Kashin Koji, has all the potential to become a god, possibly surpassing the Otsutsuki themselves sooner or later. He might be the perfect candidate to represent a different kind of God, someone who’s born out of struggle and not of conquest. Besides, he’s already on the evolutionary path of an Otsutsuki, as mentioned before.
Boruto’s ability to resist Momoshiki’s control and rewrite his fate time and again seemingly hints that one day he could reach a level comparable or superior to the gods. If he successfully taps into thefull power of karma, using Momoshiki’s abilities at will without any hindrance, on top of utilizing his own power to his advantage, he will most certainly be a force to be reckoned with.
I’ll walk my own path—Boruto
Right now, Boruto is doing a good job keeping Momoshiki at bay, especially inTwo Blue Vortex. If this continues, and he defeats Jura by himself, without any interference from Momoshiki or any other character in the series, he could easily prove he has what it takes to become a godly being.
Boruto Could Awaken Jougan
The Potential to Unlock the Eye of the Gods
Jougan, also known as the Pure Eyeor the Eye of the Gods, is a powerful dojutsu relative only to the Otsutsuki Clan. However, for some reason still unexplained, Boruto also possesses this incredible dojutsu, making it seem he has a direct connection to the celestial beings from the very beginning of the series. In other words, Boruto shares a unique divine trait exclusive to the Otsutsuki Clan even before Momoshiki corrupted him.
However, Boruto’s Jougan has yet to debut in the manga to this day. No one knows when or how he would unlock this dojutsu, except for theBorutocreators themselves.If he awakens the Jougansometime in the future through a difficult fight, likely with Jura, he may even surpass Byakugan and Rinnegan users, pushing him to an entirely different level.
