There are a number of weapons available to players inFBC: Firebreak, and while they all do a good job at kicking the Hiss back to where they came from, there’s a clear food chain here as far as weapon effectiveness goes. Every gun in the game is viable, but some do stand out.
Unlocking every weapon inFBC: Firebreaktakes a while, and apart from the starting options, players need to spend Lost Assets in order to get them. For those who are wondering which guns to get first or which ones are the best to use, this list should shed some light on how each weapon compares to each other.
6Bolt-Action Rifle
The Marksman’s Favorite
The Bolt-Action Rifle is very powerful as far as per-bullet damage goes. It can take out all sorts of regular Hiss with one shot to the body, and if it hits the weakspots of heavier units, players can expect todeal massive damage(assuming the target doesn’t die outright).
Such power comes at a cost — the Bolt-Action Rifle’s fire rate is the slowest in the game, and while players can cancel its per-round reload, it still takes a while before the rifle can start shooting again. This weapon is ranked the lowest in this list not because it’s weak, but because it forces players to conform to its slowand methodical playstyle. Canceling the rifle’s reload animation by shooting or using melee attacks makes it a bit less cumbersome, but players should still expect to get swarmed when using this weapon.
5Submachine Gun
Decent Gun, Master of None
The SMG is the jack of all trades inFBC: Firebreak. While it’s described as a mid-ranged weapon, it can comfortably handle its own even at close-to-melee range. This weapon dealsrespectable damage with each shot, though it somewhat struggles against heavy units, as it has neither the DPS to take them down quickly nor the strength to stagger them.
The versatility of the Submachine Gun makes it a good pick for every player, though it may feel weak compared to other guns. The latter becomes especially evident when this weapon is compared to its bigger brother, the Machine Gun. Even so, the SMG is perfectly capable of carrying Firebreakers throughout any job, especially once upgraded.
4Double-Barrel Shotgun
For Hit-and-Run Enjoyers
The Double-Barrel Shotgun works exactly like how one would expect a boomstick to work — it can only fire two shots before needing to reload, but every blast from this gun sends a powerful message to whatever’s looking down its barrels. It can’t exactly kill heavies quickly, but it’sstrong enough to leave them staggering on the floor.
Players will need to adopt a hit-and-run playstyle when using this weapon, and speaking of playstyles, it works a bit like a short-ranged version Bolt-Action Rifle. It’s great for players who want to rush objectives while clearing enemies, but much like the SMG, it gets overshadowed by its larger counterpart.
3Machine Gun
Big Magazine for Big Crowds
The Machine Gun is more or less a direct upgrade from the SMG, and like in mostother co-op shooters, this type of weapon isgreat for fighting large groups. They both fill that mid-range weapon role, and as far as performance goes, the MG feels much like the SMG, but with a much bigger magazine, a slightly better damage profile, and a slower rate of fire. Due to how closely they perform, choosing between this and the SMG boils down to personal preference.
This weapon is designed for crowd control. Its middling DPS output makes it unsuited for dealing with high-health targets compared to other guns, but it can clear a horde of weaker Hiss without having to reload, assuming players can hit their shots. The Machine Gun is especially good against flying enemies, as its magazine size allows for more misses.
2Revolver
The Gunslinger’s Choice
One would expect the Revolver to be inferior to the Bolt-Action Rifle, but that’s simply not the case. While this pistol does deal less damage per bullet than the rifle, it makes up for that with itssuperior fire rate and reload speed. Plus, as a starting weapon, players don’t need tospend any Lost Assetsto get this gun, though they’ll still need to spend Assets to upgrade it.
The Revolver is one of the most versatile weapons in the game, tied only with the final weapon on this list. It takes a while to get used to how it feels, but players who do familiarize themselves with how to use this gun will find it to be a reliable companion even in the hardest of difficulty levels.
1Pump-Action Shotgun
The True Workhorse Weapon
Speaking of direct upgrades, the regular pump-action Shotgun one-ups the Double-Barrel Shotgun in almost every way. The damage they deal is comparable, but this one has a higher magazine capacity and the ability to cancel its reload animations in between shell insertions, which essentially meansplayers can keep firing this gun until they completely run out of ammo.
Unlike most other FPS games, the Pump-Action Shotgun inFBC: Firebreakhas a long effective range. It encroaches the effective range of the SMG and Machine Gun, as it can one-tap enemies even from halfway across the room. Even if it doesn’t, a follow-up shot will most likely get the job done. Because of its damage output, effective range, and ability to adapt to any situation, the Shotgun easily wins as the best gun in the game.
