Rematchisn’t the easiest game to get into, with it taking a few matches for the mechanics to click. One thing players may struggle with is scoring, especially as keepers lock onto the ball. Thankfully, players can practice shooting and utilize certain techniques toscore more goals inRematch.
How To Shoot In Rematch
To shoot inRematch, players will need toaim at the goal with the Right Stick or Mouse, and then they will need topress or hold downthe Right Trigger/Left Mouse Button.
Holding to shoot will temporarily delay the shot, allow players toadd curvewith the Left Stick/Mouse Drag, and addmore power. The ability to curve the ball in any direction is called Magnus Shoot.
Best Ways To Score More Goals In Rematch
Practice Curling The Ball To Go Around The Keeper
Basic shots will rarely work against a half-decent keeper, but thankfully,Rematchhas an excellent system forcurving the ball. The shooting tutorial is great at explaining this, and then players can spend hours in freeplay perfecting this advanced technique.
Take full advantage of the tutorials and freeplay. They are the best place to hone skills with unlimited access to the ball.
The most important thing is that theball dips down, as keepers typically dive to the side, so they might miss it with the ball dropping from up high. Ideally, though, it would also curl in or out. If the ball goes in any corner, it’s more likely to beat the keeper.
Aim Above The Goals & Score The Rebound
One tactic that players have adopted ispurposely aiming shots highabove the net so that theball bounces back out. Ideally, thekeeper will dive, leaving the attacker with anopen net for an easy volley or header.
Self Pass Off The Back Wall To Go Around The Keeper
If players areapproaching goal from the sides, one trick is topass the ball off the back wall, just next to the post. This will hopefullygo around the keeper, allowing them torun onto the ball and tap it in.
Square The Ball To A Teammate Past The Keeper
A classic easy goal in football is toattack as two. When the keeper inevitablycomes out to tacklethe player with the ball, they shouldpass it across goalto their teammate, who now has anopen net.
There’s no offside to worry about, so it doesn’t matter if the teammate is further ahead.
Lob passes can also work, and in general, passing is the best way to score goals inRematch.
Learn To Score From Crosses & Through Balls
At first, scoring volleys, headers, or even normal goals fromcrosses and through ballsmay seem difficult. This is because players are looking at where the ball came from when they attempt to shoot.
Instead, turn to face goal before shooting. Setting the camera speed to be higher can help with this. To practice this, go into freeplay and kick the ball away. Then pressRight Stick/Middle Mouse Buttonto recall the ball, and this will essentiallyact as a cross. Players can do this over and over until they get the hang of it, and try from plenty of angles.
Wait For The Keeper To Dive First
While there’scurrently no way to fake shots inRematch, players can still attempt to psych keepers out orbe patient and wait for them to dive, leaving the goal open.
Either hold onto the ball for longer than is expected, orpower up the shot, as this delays it. This will naturally be easier against lower-skilled keepers.
Sneak Behind The Enemy Defense/Sometimes Stay Up Front
Rematchis a team game, and so players should not always wait up front and refuse to help defend. However, there is alsono offside inRematch, so if you’re able toslip behind the defense and wait for a long ball, this can be good.
Having one player linger up front is more viable in 5 v 5, where more players are available to defend. Also, as a defender, watch out for strikers sneaking behind.
These Hail Mary plays can lead toone-on-ones with the keeper, which are arguably easier to score.
Doesn’t Have To Be Shots, Use Slide Tackles & Passes
While using the shooting button is typically the best way to score, players can still use other controls in certain situations. For example, passing can be done without aiming, so if players know the net is empty, and theydon’t have time to turn and shoot, simplypass behind and score.
If theball is racing across goalor many players are scrapping over the ball in the penalty area, awell-timed slide tacklecould potentially scramble it into the net.
Lastly, if players areabout to be tackled by a keeperrushing out, they couldtry a rainbow flick over them.
Use A Lob Pass To Chip The Keeper
There isn’t a proper way to perform a chip shot inRematch, but players can still achieve this when the keeper runs out of the goal. Simplyuse the lob pass instead. On controller, this is done withRight Bumper + X/Square. By pressing A/Cross at the same time as the previous buttons, the lob will be lighter. On PC, it’sF or X, with X being light lobs.
