Leviathans are gigantic warships armed with a host of plasma cannons. InHelldivers 2, they act as flying fortresses that can saturate areas with a constant barrage of fire, suppressing Helldivers and forcing them to react. These ships are as durable as they look, and to shoot one down, you’ll need some heavy firepower.
As intimidating as they look, Leviathans don’t pose much of an issue most of the time. However, if left unchecked, they can make chaotic situations even more hectic. If you’re wondering how to take a Leviathan down inHelldivers 2,here are a few recommendations.
How to Kill Illuminate Leviathans in Helldivers 2
So far, Leviathans are the best reasons to bringheavy AT weapons like the Recoilless Rifleand the SPEAR. In missions with them, the Autocannon and WASP Launcher are usually enough to handle most enemies, but with Leviathans in the airspace, players will want to bring the biggest guns they have.
As of writing,Leviathans are the most durable out of all enemies in the game. Apart from requiring maximum armor penetration, members of the community have estimated the total health of these ships to be around 12,000, which is roughly double the total health of Bile Titans and Fleshmobs.
Both Exosuit variants are capable of destroying Leviathans, but this comes with a significant ammunition cost.
Helldivers 2 Leviathan Weakspots
With a heavy AT weapon equipped, aim for the blue rings on the Leviathan’s belly. If you deal enough damage to them, chunks of the ship will fall off, and if you destroy all three spots, the Leviathan will start losing altitude and eventually crash into the ground. Alternatively, you cantarget the joint areas between the head, middle body, and tail sectionsof the Leviathan.
If you don’t aim for these weakspots, you’ll likely end up burning through an entire Recoilless Rifle ammo pack, and the Leviathan will likely still be alive. For situations where aiming for the weakspots isn’t quite viable, then theAnti-Tank Emplacement Stratagemfromthe Urban Legends Warbondwill do wonders against these enemies.
Fighting Leviathans
Unless you’re in an Evacuate Assets mission, you don’t really need to take Leviathans down. They’re fairly inaccurate, and with all the skyscrapers on Super Earth, they’ll rarely have a chance to take shots at you. Even when one does get a clear line of sight, it’ll take a while before they take you out thanks to their terrible accuracy and relatively slow rate of fire.
However, if you do find yourself in an Evacuate Assets mission, there’s going to be a chance that a Leviathan or two will appear in the mission. They can bombard the generators powering the facility, and that alone is reason enough for you to bring heavy AT weapons to these missions. If you don’t have the AT Emplacement unlocked, use the Recoilless Rifle or SPEAR and ask for your teammates to do team reloads for you.
Leviathan hulls can break, exposing soft spots that take damage from lighter AT weapons like the Autocannon and Railgun.
