Summary
The Witcher 3is one of the best video games ever made, and countless fans can’t seem to get enough of it. A huge reason why so many love this title is because of its amazing cast of villains, giving Geralt a reason to hunt down monsters in both the literal and figurative sense.
From people seeking Ciri for their own needs to godlike beings who treat human lives like playthings for their amusement, there’s no shortage of horrible figures inThe Witcher 3that fans will love to cut down to size. Out of them all, however, these are arguably thebest villains inThe Witcher.

8Eredin Breacc Glas
The King Of The Wild Hunt Is Intimidating Despite A Lack Of Screen Time
Eredin, in the books, is a vile elfwho wants to marry Ciri in order to acquire the power of her Elder Blood. This angle isn’t explored all that much in the game, where he’s more of a sinister presence who chases down Ciri across numerous worlds relentlessly.
This may lessen his impact as a villain, but that should take nothing away from how satisfying it is to deliver a beatdown for the ages on him. After a battle spanning multiple dimensions, Eredin finally breathes his last, and Ciri gets to enjoy her newfound freedom.
7Vilgefortz Of Roggeveen
A Strong Wizard Who Is A Thorn In The Heroes' Side Time And Time Again
Vilgefortz is one of the most relentless villains in theWitcherserieswho boasts both magical and close-combat skills. This could be seen in his duel with Geralt, where he was able to overpower the super-mutant with his staff and injure him to boot.
In his search to find Ciri for Emhyr, he captures and tortures people in order to acquire the information he needs. Regis' brutal death at his hands was hard to digest, even if the vampire’s attempt to take out the wizard’s eye is what allowed Geralt to finally best this foe in a rematch.
6Radovid V The Stern
Radovid is one of themost demented kings in theWitcherseries, using his trauma from Philippa’s abuse as an excuse to torture hundreds of mages. If allowed to reign on the throne, his culling would extend to non-humans and turn the streets of Novigrad red with blood.
This is why players should join the plot to end his reign of torment on the throne. From the very moment Geralt interacts with this king, it’s clear that he has a screw loose, but this is half of what makes him such an interesting villain.
5Letho Of Gulet
A Complex Villain Who Can Potentially Be Spared If Players Wish
Letho is one of the most complex characters inThe Witcher. He appears in the second game asthe man who kills King Foltestand leaves Geralt with the blame, only for the plot to unfurl and his role as a hired killer to be revealed.
He may be a powerful witcher, but he’s also a downtrodden soul who wants the School of the Viper to be restored to its former glory. This caused him to take a lucrative deal from Emhyr and become yet another pawn in the twisted games played by royalty, something Geralt can completely understand.
4Dettlaff Van Der Eretein
A Heartbroken Vampire Who Takes Extreme Steps To Get Revenge
Dettlaff is a fascinatingly complex character who has his heart torn by Syanna time and time again. Eventually, he has enough and decides to launch an assault on Beauclair with his vampire brethren in order to get her head.
The fact that Regis defends him till the very end shows that there’s more to Dettlaff than what meets the eye. However, after being manipulated by Syanna one too many times, he can’t contain his rage andmust be cut down by Geralt.
3The Crones
Three Heinous, Intimidating Witches Who Are As Horrendous As They Come
From the very moment the Crones make their appearance inThe Witcher 3, it’s clear that these sinister witches are as horrific as they come. Brewess, Weavess, and Whispess arethree heinous characters who crossed Ciri’s pathand only give Geralt the lead he needs after he fulfills their request.
The fact that these heinous monsters eat children to retain their youth is horrible, leaving Anna traumatized in the process (that is if she hasn’t already turned into a water hag). Cutting them down in scintillating boss fights is a blast, with players finally being able to make them pay for their transgressions.
2Leo Bonhart
A Dogged, Determined Bounty Hunter Who Made It His Personal Goal To Traumatize Ciri
One of the most heinous characters inThe Witcher,Leo Bonhart, is a bounty hunterwho is a bit too psychotic at times. He hunted down Ciri when she was a member of the Rats and beheaded her friends one by one in front of her in order to hammer in just how helpless she was.
Even when she tried to escape the bounty hunter, she received an orion to the face that caused her to develop an iconic scar. After serving as a thorn in Ciri’s side for ages, the Child of the Elder Blood finally got her revenge by cutting the man down during the battle of Stygga Castle.
1Gaunter O’Dimm
Hearts Of Stone Was Intensely Compelling Thanks To This Villain’s Presence
It’s clear that a villain whose initials spell GOD is bound to be a powerful figure, and Gaunter O’Dimm is no exception. His powers are in a class of their own; he is able to stop time, bind people to inhumane contracts, and do whatever else he wishes to set his mind to.
His sinister presence makes him the driving force of Hearts of Stone, along with Olgierd. Even the so-called “boss fight” against him is more of a puzzle where players must outsmart him at his own game to undo the terms of his contract.
