Summary
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33is an interactive turn-based game that brings with it the best of different game genres and blends them beautifully to create something unique. Taking from the traditional turn-based genre,Expedition 33provides a variety of status effects that can be utilized by players in creative ways in order for them to overcome adversities.
Amongall the status effects present inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, Burn is one of the most dominant effects that players can utilize. Unlike other status effects, Burn can be stacked to deal even greater damage, which can not only help teams that specialize in dealing damage over time but also allow normal teams to deal additional damage. There are a number of skills in the game that specialize in afflicting burn on enemies; here are thebest skills that cause burn inClair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Attack Type
Single Target
Burning Canvasis a late-game skill that can be acquired by players upon reaching the third act of the game. Using 5 AP, Burning Canvas hits a single target 5 times, dealing high void damage and applying one burn per hit in the process.
While the number of burn inflicted on the enemy is lower than skills like Rain of Fire, Burning Canvas increases the damage for each burn on the target, ensuring that the enemy receives massive damagebefore its turn.
4
Multi Target
Wildfire is another of Lune’s low-cost skills, capable of inflicting Burn on opponents. Consuming 4 AP, it deals moderate fire damage to all enemies while applying 3 burn stacks to each target.
Unlike Immolation, which focuses on a single foe, Wildfire functions as an AoE attack. Additionally,it delivers bonus damagewhen two ice stains are present, making it a more practical choice in encounters involving multiple enemies.
3
Sparkisa low-cost skill that Maelle can obtain early on in the game. Much like Immolation, Spark also deals low single-target fire damage to the aggressor, as it applies 3 Burn on the enemy.
The skill applies 2 more Burn to the target if Maelle uses this skill in her offensive stance. Spark is a low AP cost skill that only uses 3 AP to apply a maximum of 5 Burn on a threat, helping players stack burns to scorch enemies over a period of time.
2
One of Lune’s starter skills,Immolation, is the player’s introduction to Burn as well. The skill only consumes 2 AP to apply Burn on enemies. Dealing low single target fire damage in one hit, Immolation applies 3 Burn on the selected foe. Additionally, if the target is Marked, then it applies 2 more Burns to them.
The skill reliably applies Burn on enemies, and while it deals lesser damage overall, it can help players inflict a great deal of damage to enemies over time. Upon using Immolation, Lune also gains a fire stain that can be used by players for other skills in order to deal increased damage.
9
Pyrolyseis a hard-hitting skill. It not only deals extreme single-target fire damage but also stacks a great number of Burn on the selected enemy. Pyrolyse hits the enemy thrice, applying 5 Burn per hit. This number increases further if Maelle is in an offensive stance, where it applies 2 more Burn per hit.
To activate this skill, 9 AP must be saved. It proves particularly effective in battles against a single target —such as boss fights— where focus can remain on one enemy, allowing Burn stacks to build up and deal significant damage with every enemy turn.

Prerequisite
Defeat and acquire the foot of an Aberration enemy while Monoco is in the active party.
Monoco’s skill,Aberration Light, is an expensive skill that cannot be used frequently in battle, but it can help players stack a significant number of Burn on enemies along with other teammates. The skill costs 7 AP to activate, and it deals high light damage to all enemies.
The skill hits twice, applying 4 Burn per hit to enemies and an extra 2 Burn per hit if Monoco’s bestial wheel pointer is on an agile mask. Monoco does not possess a variety of skills that specialize in applying burn, butAberration Light does a good jobat it despite the heavy cost.
Another one of Maelle’s skillsthat can inflict Burn on enemies isRain of Fire, an attack skill that comes with good firepower at a higher cost than Spark. The skill requires 5 AP to activate, dealing medium single target fire damage to the selected enemy, applying 3 Burn per hit in the process. The skill also applies 2 more Burn per hit if Maelle is in a defensive stance.
Rain of Fire hits an enemy twice, allowing Maelle to inflict a Burn a maximum of 10 times on a target. For its moderate AP cost, Rain of Fire is a must-have skill when using Maelle in the team to precisely rain fire on enemies.
Hellis a high-cost spell that requires 9 AP to activate, but the pay-off will be worth it when players watch Lune unleash fierce destruction. Dealing very high fire damage, Hell applies 5 Burn per hit to all enemies. The skill hits the hostile foes twice, stacking Burn on multiple enemies with a single attack.
The spell can deal increased damage if players generate ice, earth, and lightning stains from Lune’s skills. However, there is a catch with this destructive spell. If players fail to execute the attack properly, it can self-damage Lune, so one needs to be aware of it while executing the attack.
Defeat and acquire the foot of the Ultimate Sakapatate enemy while Monoco is in the active party.
Another high-cost skill that Monoco uses to apply Burn to enemies inSakapatate Fire. Acquired by defeating the Ultimate Sakapatate while Monoco is active in the party, the skill uses a whopping 9 AP to cast extreme fire damage to all enemies. It also applies 3 Burn per hit to all enemies.
Sakapatate Fire strikes the enemies three times, allowing players to stack a hefty amount of Burn on them. The cost of this skill is a bit too high, but given that players will be going all out on dealing damage with the help of the Burn status effect, the skill is not as bad as it might seem.
Gradient Skills are some of the most powerful skillsinClair Obscur: Expedition 33. Each character comes with their own unique Gradient Skill, and Maelle’s second Gradient Skill,Phoenix Flame, is particularly useful when it comes to incinerating enemies.
Taking two gradient charges to activate, Phoenix Flame applies 10 Burn to all enemies and revives all allies with 50% to 70% health. This not only gives the player a second chance to turn a seemingly lost battle around by reviving allies, but it further depletes enemy HP in what is supposed to be a last-ditch move. This skill does not cost a turn, so Maelle can follow up with another skill in order to inflict more damage on the enemies, making it a great choice for igniting one’s foes to death.
