Summary

A Soulslike roguelike sounds like every FromSoftware fan’s dream, andElden Ring Nightreignmanages to deliver on the fantasy in plenty of ways.Cooperative gameplaythat lets players jump into an adventure together, build variety that can be tailored to specific weapon classes, and relic rewards that can be customized to meet the player’s needs, there is a lot to learn and even more to enjoy.

When it comes to actually constructing a build in a run, it can be difficult to pin down exactly what the player wants due to the randomness of the rewards. However, with a few tricks and techniques, players can reliably level up fast and acquire high-tier weapons, whilst choosing specific upgrades to tailor their build and ensure they are geared to the nines and ready to take on the challenge at the end of night three.

Nightreign Ironeye

8Poison Ironeye

Toxic Arrows That Never Stop Coming

Ironeye is a Nightfarer that brings a ton of extra range to the fight without impressing too much in the damage department. It can be hard totake on a Nightlordas a low-level archer, as it will take quite some time for the damage to stack up, by which point the flasks have run low and the team is all but dead.

Status effects are a great way of giving a player some extra damage that they otherwise wouldn’t have access to. Being able to apply it at range in a safe position means that the health bars can tick down while the player is away from danger. One of the best ways of getting this power early on is by visiting a poison ruin and hunting for a Harp bow, which can then be upgraded and taken all the way to night three. It’s a simple build that packs a serious bunch with the right powers and set of relics.

Nightreign Guardian

7Tank Guardian

Become An Immovable Wall

Guardian is an interesting character who has decent strength but not a whole lot else going for him. He’s a class that really loves halberds and shields, and what better way of playing into the tank fantasy than by going full on with a beefy wall that enemies just simply can’t get through. The choices for shields are pretty diverse, but one good strategy is to take one with a bleed effect, allowing players to dish out damage whilst taking none themselves.

There are also relic passives that allow the player to really become the tank they always wanted to, by aggroing enemies while guarding, so the rest of the team is free to lay down the pain from afar. It’s always a good idea to pick up any stamina or resistance-related upgrades as well, as that way the player can hold the shield for longer and keep the team safe.

Nightreign Raider

6Colossal Power Stancing

No Equipment Loads, No Limits

In almost all the previous games, players were limited by equipment loads and carrying weights, which dictated the size of the weapons and armor they could carry and how fast they could dodge attacks. ButNightreignremoves that entirely, letting any class pick up any weapon and allowing even the heavy colossal weapons to be dual-wielded right from the start.

For aclass like Raider, it’s the perfect recipe for dual-wield mayhem, and the game certainly invites players to go all out with the heaviest of the armaments. Thanks to the passive effects carrying over even if the weapon isn’t equipped, players are free to grab multiple weapons of various kinds and still gain all the benefits. When combined with relic passives, players can suddenly jump into the fight with a massive blow that can stagger basically anything that manages to get in its way.

Nightreign Executor

5Bleed Executor

Rivers Of Blood Is Back Once Again

Bleed was always a pretty consistent and overpowered way of clearing bosses inElden Ring, and that rings true in the latest game as well. The Executor is the perfect character to wield the bleeding blades, as with a high base arcane stat, players can jump in with some insane damage output right from the start and maintain that damage output all the way until the end of a run.

Just like before, River of Blood is the player’s best friend, and there are plenty of extra tools that can help players get the most out of the weapon. Powers that benefit blood loss and bleeding, damage bonuses for proccing status effects, the bleed is the way to go, and being able to dish out so much damage against the hardest enemies, makes the whole game feel like a walk in the park.

Nightreign Duchess

4Looping Duchess

Heavy Hits Over And Over

The Duchess is a super fun character that many overlook as a low-damage utility class that can’t put up the same numbers as the others. But this couldn’t be further from the truth, as thanks to her Restage ability, certain builds can transform the character from a basic dagger-wielding assassin into a high-DPS monster that can tear through anything in the game.

The key is to pick up any and call cooldown reducing upgrades, to make the short cooldown even shorter and more spammable, and to make use of relics that add additional repeating effects like the Crown Medal, to make those combos hit like a truck and be repeated even faster. Bleed is also a great choice for the Duchess, as when it pops, a chunk of damage can be reapplied for an even larger surge of damage.

Nightreign Wylder

3Flaming Wylder

Simple But Super Fun

One of the coolest and most powerful abilities that players can unlock pretty early into the game comes from the Slate Whetstone that, when used with Wylder, adds a follow-up attack to every grapple that devastates enemies of all kinds. It’s like having awhole extra spellon every gap close that staggers and dishes out insane flaming damage at the same time.

There are a couple of extra buffs that increase fire damage or even add extra flames to the end of abilities that make this build even more enjoyable to use. And as Wylder already has pretty decent boss-killing potential, taking this build into the final fight can make for some pretty quick executions, even without the help of a trusty bleed build.

Nightreign Recluse

2Ultimate Recluse

High Heals And Even Higher Damage

The Recluse is one of the bestNightfarers that players can choosein terms of raw damage and flexibility. She isn’t limited to one spell or damage type, and players are actually encouraged to branch out to make the most of her affinity collecting ability. In terms of builds, one direction that can be taken is focusing entirely on her ultimate and using it as the basis for taking on the bigger foes.

It’s a large, bloody burst that allows players to heal and restore FP from the marked targets, and the Recluse has quite a few relics that feed into this ability perfectl,y like the Bone-like Stone, which not only grants the player some bonus HP but also increases their attack power while the ultimate is active. She’s a great damage dealer, healer, and overall an insane character when built correctly.

Nightreign Revenant

1Support Revenant

Who Doesn’t Love A Healer?

Healing can be pretty hard to come by when the flasks start to run low, and one of the best characters to build as a healer is the Revenant. Her kit is pretty basic and underwhelming, especially when fighting Nightlords, as her passive doesn’t really do a whole lot, and her summons can die in a matter of a single blow at times.

But if players grab a few seals and manage to get some hefty healing spells and aura effects from relics, she becomes a pretty good supportive character that can keep people topped up throughout those tricky fights. It also means that players can focus on their actual teammates during intense moments, rather than their summons, which are frankly pretty useless in the later stages.
