Lifepaths are a feature inCyberpunk 2077that will help determine V’s origins and foundations for being in Night City, but it’s important to note that a Lifepath doesn’t alter the game in any real way that impacts each playthrough, and instead, should be seen as an extra layer of character building to determine what kind of person your unique V will be as they begin theirCyberpunk 2077journey.
With a choice between Nomad, Corpo, and Streetkid as the chosen Lifepath inCyberpunk 2077, some players might want to know the differences between all three and to determine which would be the best for them to pick in terms of rewards, dialogue, and immersion.
The Best Lifepath for Cyberpunk 2077 (2.0 Update)
The Lifepath that players choose inCyberpunk 2077will not have any real impact on the game’s story, characters, rewards, side quests, or dialogue. Lifepaths are designed as a prologue to V, and the only differences that players will find are in the starting mission, and the occasional dialogue options made available that have no real impact on decision making. However, players might be seeking the best lifepath inCyberpunk 2077that makes sense for V’s story.
Thebest Lifepath to choose inCyberpunk 2077will either be Nomad or Corpo, and players can find reasons for each, listed below:
Nomad- Nomad is the safest Lifepath to pick for a few reasons, with the first being that this is a V that comes froma nomadic backgroundwith no real understanding of how Night City works, both in terms of corporate and gang politics. Nomad is great for starting players who want to familiarise themselves with the language and politics of Night City just as V does for the first time, and it’s a Lifepath that makes sense for V’s character as it gives them natural progression as a fish out of water, and one that searches for acceptance and fame, freed from their former clan with a want for family, which they might just find with their new partner in crime, Jackie Welles.
Corpo-The reason Corpo is a great Lifepath to start with is because it shows a V that has grown up in Night City, but sold their soul to corporations to go straight and climb the ladder of power, only to be kicked down and left in the dirt with the life V tried to leave behind. Choosing Corpo shows a V who is capable, understands how Night City works from a corporate perspective, and gives V motivation to rise to the top as a Night City Legend. This further motivates V’s relationship to go to the big leagues with Jackie, and provides tension and eventual understanding in a complex relationship with Johnny Silverhand.
These Boots Are Made for Walkin'
Rewards the Thorton Galena “Rattler”.
The Nomad Lifepath focuses on V as an outcast, an outsider who has left behind their life on the road in search of something more, which just so happens to be Night City. For a V that’s out of their depth and stepping into a larger world, Nomad is a great start as it shows how new life in Night City is for V, and it will also provide them with a sense of longing and purpose as they try to rise to the big leagues. Players should select Nomad if they want to play as a V that has experience with illegal activities like smuggling goods and working with gangs, but also as a V who is like a fish out of water when it comes tolife in Night City.
The Nomad Lifepath begins with V on their own, starting anew in Night City without the backing of their Nomad clan, and with a new contract from Jackie Welles that might just start a beautiful friendship.
War Pigs
Rewards the Apparition, an Iconic Tech Pistol.
The Corpo Lifepath focuses on V as someone who is making their way to the top in the corporate world, stepping over people underneath them while serving those that they themselves are underneath. This is a great Lifepath to choose for the V who wants to clash with Johnny Silverhand over differing ideals, and for a V who has never quite found their place in the world after longing for more than just a corporate office job that provides more stress and paranoia than anything else. A Corpo Lifepath V is one who might not understand the big leagues of Night City Legends, but it is a V who understands how to use and be used by other people, a V that can cut through the lies of a corporate world to see the truth that might just make them Johnny Silverhand’s biggest fan, or unwilling accomplice.
The Corpo Lifepath for V begins with V working at the Arasaka Corporation as the second-in-command for their Counter-Intelligence Division, only for V to be chewed up and spat right back out to be left with nothing but their friend, Jackie Welles.
Small Man, Big Mouth
SEMURAI crystaljock bomber (Outer Torso)
The Streetkid Lifepath for V will provide players with a sense of belonging, but a desire for more. Streetkid V is someone who grew up in Night City, and is familiar with the streets, gangs, slang, and lower-life poverty that they couldn’t resist coming back to. The Streetkid Lifepath is best suited for players who want their V to be familiar with Night City and to understand how the city works with or without them in the picture. However, the Streetkid V is also a tad dense, focusing on the major leagues and desires of becoming a Night City Legend at the Afterlife above all else, with a desire for the finer things in life.
The Streetkid Lifepath for V begins with V returning to Night City to steal a high-end car, which results in a meeting with Heywood’s very own Sebastian Ibarra, and then later crossing paths with the soon-to-be best bud, Jackie Welles.
