Since Crafting Life gameplay involves QTE, you’ll want to unlock skills on their Skill Menu that will increase the quality of your crafting recipes. With so many nodes to unlock inFantasy Life i, you’ll want to know which ones to prioritize over others.
Crafting Lives Overview
Understanding the Skill Menu Perks
All the Crafting Life Skill Menus havethe same layout as one another. You have nodes that will increase your overall skill level, increase experience gain, and more. The northernmost nodes will unlock as you rank up your Crafting Life level, but they’re arguably the better nodes and worth the effort.
While you’ll want to increase your Skill Level and Experience earned, you’ll want to unlock the nodes that make the crafting minigames easier. Doing so will ensure higher quality crafting recipes if you manage to get a strong minigame ranking (ex: Great or Perfect). If you have a powerful tool and buddies, you’ll be able to exceed most of the Recommended Skill Levels on your crafting recipes without having to unlock every Skill+ node on the menu.
Some nodes can’t be accessed until youunlock a set amount of nodes. For example, you may not be able to access a “+20% exp” node until you’ve unlocked 40 nodes total on the skill menu.
It’s recommended you focus on the Carpenter and Blacksmith Life. These two are used for making tools and weapons respectively. Once you’re able to craft higher-quality tools, it’ll be easier to rank up the other Crafting Lives.
“Tap!” and “Hold!” Power Action
QTE Prompts
Headsouthon your Skill Menu from the center icon, and you’ll find nodes that shorten the time to complete “Tap” and “Hold” Power Actions. When crafting, you’ll sometimes be prompted to hold down or rapidly tap the action button at one (or more) of the stations. Unfortunately, these take longer to complete than simply pressing the action button once, and not completing them fast enoughcan influence your final score.
You should unlock a few of the nodes that allow you to complete these Power Actions faster. Of course, some are locked behind a Crafting Life ranking (ex: Hero), but there are several you can unlock almost immediately.
Auto-Crafting for Low-Level Recipes
Skipping the Crafting Minigame
If you need to craft a bunch of tools with Ordinary ranking or common materials, then you should get the Auto Crafting skills. You’ll start out by unlocking 2-star recipes and go up from there. Keep in mind thatchoosing to Auto Craft materialswill always result in Standard/Ordinary quality. Meaning if you want to craft in bulk and potentially get double the amount of items you’re trying to craft, you’re better off just playing the minigame.
Generally, you should play the minigame when crafting materials used in crafting recipes. However, auto-crafting can be useful when making furniture/decor for your base camp or for completing quests. Keep in mind that you’ll want to avoid Auto Crafting if a quest calls for a Good or Higher quality tool/weapon/armor.
Unlock Special Action
Skip Crafting Stages
Each Crafting Life has a Special Action that allows you to completethree crafting stages at once. Potentially, you can complete an entire turn simply by using the Special Action. As you unlock more nodes and rank up, you’ll be able to skip more turns. But the Special Action is an absolute Must and should be prioritizedover the Tap/Hold Power Actions.
If you have buddies with you, they can also use Special Actions if your friendship rank with them is high enough.
Special Skill Charge Rate
A Faster Special Action
In relation to the Special Action is the Special Skill Charge Rate. These are to thewest sideof your Skill Menu. Some can grant you +10% Special Skill charge rate at the cost of 10 points. As the name indicates, the Special Skill Charge determines how fast theyellow charge meter around your icon (upper left corner)fills up. The faster it charges, the more chances you’ll have to use the Special Action during the minigame.
Special Skill Charge rate nodes only affect your character. Your buddies, if you have any active during the minigames, have their own charge rate/meter.
