Summary

With the recentWarframe 1999: Techrot Encoreupdate, several new adversaryweapons were added to the game. Similar to their Tenet and Kuva counterparts, the Coda weapons require a player to obtain an adversary, this time a Technocyte Coda. They then have to equip their Parazon with one of several Antivirus mods, which will slowly cleanse its virus. Once slain, the Technocyte Coda will give the player Live Heart Cells, which can then be traded with Eleanor for the Coda weapons.

This topic looks at each of the Coda weapons, comparing them to their standard variants (where applicable) and ranking them based on their comparative power. While some are clearly stronger than others, each has unique value in obtaining, as well as offering a large amount of Mastery when fully leveled.

Warframe Coda Pox

13Coda Pox

Thrown Infested Pods

The Coda Pox is quite clearly theweakest of the lot, being a throwable secondary weapon. The Coda variant has improved damage, critical chance, critical damage multiplier, status chance, and magazine size. While this may make them seem like a solid choice, the Coda Pox are underwhelming, not dealing enough damage to make them a worthy option.

The thrown spores leave lingering toxin clouds, dealing continuous status damage to any enemy that remains in the cloud. Few enemies choose to do this, however, meaning the damage over time potential is greatly diminished. The Pox could be an option for a player looking for a status-inflicting weapon. However, weapons like the Kuva Nukor or Epitaph fill this role infinitely better.

Warframe Coda Tysis

12Coda Tysis

Corrosive Dart Gun

The second secondary weapon on this list, the Coda Tysis is the Coda variant of the infested Tysis dart gun, improving upon the standard weapon’s dismal critical chance and damage stats. The Coda Tysis also benefits from increased damage and magazine size, similar to the Pox. However, this once again does little to make it worth using.

The Coda Tysis does benefit from a base 50% status chance and innate corrosive damage, which can be effective against armored enemies. Nevertheless, this is once again overshadowed by many of the more popular secondary options.

Warframe Coda Hirudo

11Coda Hirudo

Life Stealing Fists

The Coda Hirudo is the first melee weapon on this list, being an infested set of fist weapons. The Hirudo is partially worth using simply for how entertaining the animation set is for fist weapons. Outside of this, the Coda Hirudo features increased critical stats, damage, and status chance over its standard version, and each critical hit steals life for the wielder.

While not a meta option for late-game content, the Coda Hirudo are fun and powerful, making them the first weapon on this list really worth using. While they are outperformed by the melee weapons later, they are well worth trying out, especially ifEleanoris selling one with a high elemental bonus.

Warframe Coda Hema

10Coda Hema

Health-Draining Burst Rifle

The Coda Hema is a unique weapon, having no ammo reserves. Instead, this infested burst rifle drains the user’s health to refill the magazine, and subsequently heals them back from headshots. Similar to the previous weapons on this list, the Coda Hema has increased damage, critical stats, status chance, fire rate, and magazine size over its standard variant.

While not the most powerful weapon in the game, the Hema has a high killing potential, backed up by its ability to heal the wielder and its innate viral damage. With the potential for a powerful elemental bonus, the Coda Hema is worth giving a go, if for no other reason than its uniqueness.

Warframe Coda Mire

9Coda Mire

Speedy Toxic Longsword

ManyWarframeplayers will be familiar with the Mire, an infested sword obtained early on in the game. The Coda Mire takes what the Mire does well and perfects it, boasting increased damage, critical stats, and status chance. Both versions maintain their status as the fastest base attack speed of all swords, making it a combo powerhouse. Dealing predominantly toxin damage, the Coda Mire is an easy melee weapon choice foranyone looking for a status build.

The Coda Mire has a relatively low critical chance and damage multiplier, lending itself perfectly toward a status build. While not the strongest melee weapon on this list, there are many worse choices a player could make.

Warframe Coda Caustacyst

8Coda Caustacyst

Sludge Spewing Scythe

The Coda Caustacyst is a menacing-looking scythe, with a heavy attack ability to create pools of corrosive sludge that linger on the battlefield. Once again, this Coda weapon boasts increased damage, critical stats, and status chance. Similar to the Coda Mire, the Coda Caustacyst deals predominantly status damage, with a much higher status chance than critical chance.

Outside of looking cool, the Caustacyst can deal serious status damage, inflicting status procs with ease, especially if the player picks one up with a high status damage bonus. Its innate corrosive damage lends this weapon well to dealing with highly armored enemies, especially with its unique corrosive pools.

Warframe Dual Coda Torxica

7Dual Coda Torxica

Dual Automatic Ice Slinging Pistols

The Dual Coda Torxica are the first weapons on this list with no standard variant, the first of the truly unique Coda weapons. These dual machine pistols are powerful room-clearing machines, releasing cold status spores whenever an enemy dies. This allows for a high level of crowd control, dealing great sustained damage as well as slowing and freezing surrounding enemies.

The spores released upon death also cause enemies to become more susceptible to damage, making the Dual Coda Torxica a powerful support tool. It slows and makes enemies easier to kill, and its large magazine allows it to keep the killing going.

Warframe Coda Motovore

6Coda Motovore

Spinning, Morphing Hammer

The second entirely unique Coda weapon, the Coda Motovore is an infested hammer with an intimidating spinning blade attached to its head. The Motovore is an interesting weapon; its physical model changes to match the dominant physical damage type modded onto the weapon, making this a must-have purely for its unique status.

While its aesthetics are a huge bonus, the Coda Motovore also has an above-average critical chance, critical damage multiplier, and status chance when compared to other melee weapons, sporting an innate status damage bonus as all the Coda weapons do. Hammers can be a difficult weapon type to get used to, being much slower than other weapon options. However, the Motovore is a great option forany player to pick up.

Warframe Coda Catabolyst

5Coda Catabolyst

Grenade Chucking Beam Pistol

Returning to the Coda variants, the Coda Catabolyst is the upgraded iteration of the Catabolyst, a laser pistol that fires a grenade whenever reloaded. Similar to the other Coda upgrades, this weapon has increased damage, status chance, and magazine size. However, the Coda Catabolyst now throws three grenades instead of the standard one.

This addition alone empowers the Catabolyst to great effect, and the Coda Catabolyst has a base 50% status chance, making it an incredible status effect spreading tool. While theEpitaph and Kuva Nukorfill this role in endgame content, the Coda Catabolyst is a powerful option for those looking for something new.

Warframe Coda Pathocyst

4Coda Pathocyst

Maggot Spawning Glaive

The highest-ranking melee weapon on this list is the Coda Pathocyst, an infested glaive that periodically spawns Techrot Miasmites, which are a direct upgrade to the maggots spawned by the standard Pathocyst. The Coda iteration of the Pathocyst maintains the trend of upgraded damage, critical chance, critical damage multiplier, and status chance.

With all of this considered, the Coda Pathocyst is by-and-large one of the most interesting thrown melee weapons available. While there may be stronger glaive options, the Pathocyst offers a powerful, unique trait and the opportunity to rank it up to level 40, making it an incredibly powerful melee option.
