The quest involves a series of disappearances in the region of Harima. As Naoe and Yasuke investigate, they realize that there is something sinister behind the scenes. The Oni fromDead by Daylighthas crossed over into the world ofAssassin’s Creed Shadows, but thisDBDkiller isn’t prepared for this pair of survivors. It’s a short quest, butDead by Daylightfans will love the references to the popular horror game.
TheDead by Daylightquest inAssassin’s Creed Shadowsbegins at the Hideout. Afterunlocking Yasukeas a playable character early in the main story, players can visit Tomiko at their Hideout to pick up a quest called “Vision of the Realms.”
This quest involves a missing scout sent to investigate a strange series of disappearances in a Harima village. They last traveled east of Kakogawa Estuary and reported missing villagers in Akashi. If you don’t want to use your own scouts to narrow down the location, you can see the exact spot you need to visit on the map below.
Investigate the Missing Villagers
Once you arrive at the village, a thick fog will cover the area. Your next objective is to search the empty village for hints regarding everyone’s whereabouts. You can find various journal entries and drawings detailing a demonic figure, but all you have to do is investigate the lone tree by the water to continue the quest. There, you’ll find a strange tablet that will transport you into the staging area for aDead by Daylighttrial.
you may choose to play as either Naoe or Yasuke for this next section, and Naoe is definitely the better choice between the two. It’s a stealth-focused trial with a lot of climbing, and these aren’t exactly Yasuke’s strengths. Plus, Yasuke will need to move some boxes around to reach high-up areas, and that’s not the easiest to do when you’re being pursued by the Oni.
Cleanse the Totems
Once you’ve chosen a character, the trial will begin. Your goal is to cleanse all four totems while being hunted by the Oni. The totems are marked with red pillars of light, and you’ll also have objective markers guiding you to each one. You’ll have to do some parkour to reach these totems, but the Oni’s spikes block the easiest paths. Keep an eye out for trees, ropes, and other things that can help you reach your targets.
The Oni cannot be killed during this part of the quest and all of your gear is temporarily removed, so stealth is the only way to survive. Avoid the glowing searchlights and watch out for the Oni’s teleportation tricks. Just like inDead by Daylight, a heartbeat sound will get progressively louder as the Oni approaches. Use this to your advantage. Keep tabs on the demon and keep moving. Once all four totems have been cleansed, you can sprint to the exit and make your escape.
Vanquish the Oni
The final section of the quest is a one-on-one duel with the Oni himself. You can choose characters again here, and Yasuke is the best fit for this battle. Unless you have areally good build for Naoe, Yasuke is better suited for the Oni’s hard-hitting attacks. Either way, the boss battle is surprisingly straightforward. Once the Oni is defeated, go back to the Hideout to collect your reward.
TheDead by Daylightquest inAssassin’s Creed Shadowsrewards you with trinkets for both Naoe and Yasuke called Entity’s Touch, which grants damage reduction after losing 40% of health in 5 seconds. It’s not the strongest trinket in the game, but it’s a cut above the usual loot you can find.
