Summary

Dandadanis one of the top-graded anime series for the season, with tons of quirky charactersand a thrilling story that takes fans from the spectrum of school-life Rom Com, to a supernatural parody that will make their ribs break with laughter. So, it is natural that fans of this anime are looking to fill the gap while they wait for a new season to come out.

Set in a ridiculous alternate version of Modern Japan,Gintamanarrates the misadventures of Gintoki, Yorozuya, Shinpachi, and Kagura, as they try to survive in a world invaded by Aliens. As ridiculous as this premise might sound, it turns into a magnificent satirical comedy that mixes the supernatural and sci-fi elements just asDandadandoes. Of course,Gintamacan be naturally called the precursor, and some might even say, the inspiration for the series made by Yukinobu Tatsu.

Gintamais as hectic as it is refreshing, constantly forcing the 4th wall the right way (not in that Hollywood-esque out-of-touch sense), carefully knitting parts of its narrative with audacious cameos and satirical references to popular anime. It even dared to go where no other anime did, doing severalDragon Ballparodies, and even went as far as to ‘ruin’ its own opening for the sake of comedy. In other words, a masterpiece that many of those who love comedy and supernatural events will enjoy.

With an enormous fan base,Jujutsu Kaisenhas become one of the top supernatural shounen series of all times, and its success is due to the perfect combination of action, comedy, and memorable characters.A thrilling tale about a boy discovering the truth of the hidden world the hard way, a trope that it shares with many other supernatural series, includingDandadan.

This anime mixes tons of interesting worldbuilding features of its own, including the prominence of sorcery and curses, the Binding Vows, and how its characters interact with each other in the shadows of a world that basically ignores their existence. It’s quite a thrilling story, filled with nonstop action, and a similar pacing to that of the adventures of Okarun and Momo.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki Kis a school life satirical comedy series about a guy (Saiki) who has been born with incredible esper skills, which include telekinesis, energy projection, psychokinetic abilities, astral projection, and basically everything on the menu for a superhuman. He is so overpowered, that his sole existence is considered ridiculous and the anime plays masterfully with the many clichés in comedy shonen series, like the overly zealous best friend, the bishoujo (pretty girl) who thinks only about herself, and the poor faceless background characters.

It’s a complete mess filled to the brim with non-stop comedy and parodies of many other shows, and honestly, quite underrated since its sense of humor hits the spot with every pun, digging the dirt out of every overused trope and cliché in modern anime.

Noragamiis the story of Yato, a stray God (or homeless God), and a human girl named Hiyori, who end up meeting each other under strange circumstances and find solace in each other despite the world that has rejected them constantly throwing dirt over their lovely friendship, that quickly evolves into something more.

It’s a slow-burning type of romantic comedy that mixes aspects of the supernatural and urban fantasy. The lore of the local gods, how they relate to humans, spirits, yokai, and other supernatural beings, is quite similar to that ofDandadan, and so its the pacing and tone that give shape to the story behind Yato’s past and the reason for him being a stray God.

Chainsaw Mancombines the best aspects of urban fantasy with supernatural elements of the demon-hunting genre, with a protagonist that is quite alienated (just like Okarun), but for some very personal reasons, he ends up becoming a demon hunter for the Yakuza, and then, a half-demon himself.

This series has a ton of action and follows a streamlined shonen structure that takes fans from arc to arc through a series of tragic events that sometimesborder the comedy of the absurd, but deliver a true impact at their core, making use of drama, senseless violence, and the illusion of normality in a world filled with creatures beyond human comprehension. Quite catchy for those who enjoy romance and action.

The absurd adventures of Shigeo (cruelly dubbed Mob) tell a tale of coming of age to the audience, through the eyes of an Esper gifted with powers that could elevate him above everyone in his class, but never grant him the true desire of his heart: To have a happy school life besides the girl he likes. It’s quite tragic, absurd, and at the same time satirical.

Mob Psycho 100is a masterpiecebased on the work of ONE (the author of One Punch Man), that oozes his typical absurd humor, and epic moments of seriousness that can drive the audience to shed some tears. Needless to say, it is a little bit of salt and sugar with this anime, and it’s ideal for those who enjoy the changes of pacing between comedy and drama in series likeDandadan.
