Summary
The most recent adventure inHonkai Star Railtakes place on the mysterious planet Amphoreus, a place hidden from all but a chosen few. Inspired by ancient Greek and Roman culture, the story involves a fascinating history and in-depth lore about thirteen titans who have been corrupted by the Black Tide. The Trailblazer and Dan Heng enter Amphoreus to learn about the world and uncover its hidden mysteries.
The key characters in this chapter of the game are calledthe Chrysos Heirs, residents of Amphoreus who have inherited the titans' divine blood. Having been called by an ancient prophecy, these heroes work together to complete the Flame-Chase Journey, a mission to defeat the corrupt titans and recover their divinity, leading the world to a new era.
1Tribios
Herald Of The Prophecy
Although theplayable character Tribbietakes the form of three young girls, they were originally one woman named Tribios, the Holy Maiden of Janusopolis. When the threat of the Black Tide made itself known, she stole Janus’s coreflame, taking up her role as the demigod of Passages. She then traveled across Amphoreus to spread Kephale’s prophecy.
Due to the nature of Janus’s domain, Tribios’s ascension caused her body to split into a thousand pieces, which appeared as younger, child-like versions of herself. However, after a thousand years, only Tribbie, Trianne, and Trinnon remained. As the eldest of the Chrysos Heirs, they use their powers and wisdom to guide the Flame-Chase Journey.
2Aglaea
Lady Of Gold
Aglaea is thedemigod of Romance, and after defeating Mnestia and taking their coreflame, she gained immortality that allowed her to live for a thousand years. Despite being blind, Aglaea can see, touch, and hear through magical golden threads that are able to stretch across the city of Okhema. These threads are used as a surveillance system as well as a deadly weapon.
Before she joined the Flame-Chase Journey, Aglaea was a dressmaker and priestess of Mnestia who sought the ideal form of Beauty, but after witnessing the terrors of war and the corruption of nobles, she joined Tribbie to reestablish peace and order. As a leader, she gathered other Chrysos Heirs to join the Flame-Chase while also governing Okhema and handling political matters. However, due to her divinity, she lost much of her humanity, leaving her soul weak and broken.
3Phainon
Deliverer Of Fate
It’s clear that in the story of Amphoreus, Phainon is the main character. Hailing from the village of Aedes Elysiae, Phainon joined the Flame-Chase Journey after his home was destroyed, hoping to find answers and get revenge. He’s called “Deliverer” due to his association with the titan Kephale, alluding to his role in fulfilling the prophecy and ushering the world into a new era.
Not much is known about Phainon’s past other than that he was forced to flee to Okhema after the Flame Reaver destroyed his village. It’s heavily hinted that there is a greater connection between them, but nothing has been confirmed. As of now, Phainon has taken up the mantle of leader of the Flame-Chase Journey.
4Mydei
Undying Prince
As the demigod of Strife, Mydei is recognized as one of the strongest warriors in all of Amphoreus. Born as the prince of Castrum Kremnos, he was thrown into the River of Souls shortly after his birth, and after soaking in its waters, he gained an immortal body. After passing the trial of Strife and ascending as a demigod, Mydei returned to his homeland to act as the first line of defense against the Black Tide.
Initially, Mydei refused to participate in the Flame-Chase Journey and carry thepower of Strife. He feared that history would repeat itself, leaving the Kremnoan people to a fate of war and violence. He was only able to assume his role as a Chrysos Heir after he officially ended the Kremnoan Dynasty and left his people to tread a new path.
5Castorice
Maiden Of Death
Born with the power to seize someone’s life with a touch, Castorice lived her life as though she were cursed. Despite being raised in Aidonia, where death was seen as a gift of divine favor, she abhorred her powers and her inability to feel the warmth of another person. Eventually, she arrived in Okhema, where she was invited to join the Flame-Chase Journey by Aglaea and Tribbie.
Castorice’s existence is special because she was actually reborn from a different timeline, a previous cycle of Amphoreus. Her soul was reincarnated through the powers of her sister, Polluxia, who had become the new Thanatos. However, this caused Polluxia herself to die, blocking the path to the Netherworld. By assuming her role as the god of Death,Castorice was able to freeher sister’s soul and restore balance to the world, but it would also require her to remain in the Netherworld forever.
6Anaxa
Heretical Scholar
As one of the Grove of Epiphany’s Seven Sages, Anaxagoras was in charge of the school of Nousporism, which he founded himself. This school focused on the study of the soul and the origin of all things, using alchemy as a means of manipulating the world. To bring his family back to life, he sacrificed his left eye, and while the attempt failed, it inspired many future experiments and studies.
Anaxa rejectedthe Flame-Chase Journey and was considered a heretic because of his opposition to the titans. He doesn’t revere them as gods, and he doesn’t believe in their prophecies. Driven by logic and understanding, he only supported the Flame-Chase after he proved the cyclical nature of Amphoreus using his broken soul and the coreflame of Reason. He then died after submitting the coreflame to the Vortex of Genesis.
7Hyacine
Descendent Of The Sky
As a physician and doctor,Hyacine spent her lifededicated to helping and healing the injured and sick. She hailed from the Twilight Courtyard, descendants of the Sky People who worshiped the titan Aquila. Unlike many of her ancestors, she was not a warrior, but that didn’t stop her from doing her part in the Flame-Chase Journey and seizing the coreflame of the Sky.
Initially, she was motivated to uphold her family’s legacy as a descendant of the Chrysos Heir who started the Flame-Chase Journey, the Daythunder Knight Seliose, who fought Aquila a thousand years ago. Despite learning the truth of the Sky People’s history, she continued to fight for the people of Amphoreus, and when the sky turned red, she assumed her position as the god of the Sky and protected the people of Okhema.
8Cipher
Fleet-Footed Thief
Cifera is the holder of Zagreus’s coreflame and the demigod of Trickery. As a young girl, she fled the Black Tide and found refuge in Okhema, using her stealth and speed to steal food, jewels, and other items to survive. At some point, she meets Aglaea, who takes her in and cares for her until she becomes an adult. Although she’s not active in the Flame-Chase Journey, her role is still incredibly important.
As the demigod of Trickery, she’s able to do some amazing things, like create disguises, travel instantaneously, and cause lies to become real. It’s actuallyCipher’s great powerthat has allowed the Flame-Chase Journey to continue for as long as it has. The Dawn Device held by Kephale was only meant to keep Okhema safe for 300 years, but a single lie from Cipher allowed it to continue shining for over a thousand.
9Cerydra & Hysilens
The Missing Demigods
Not much is known about Cerydra and Hysilens except that they were extremely powerful Chrysos Heirs who initiated the first Flame-Chase Journey. During the Chrysos War, the two led a small army to save Okhema from invaders and eventually took over the entire city. Using the power of Talanton, Cerydra made the Flame-Chase into law to ensure its success.
Hysilens was the demigod of the Ocean, taking on Phagousa’s Coreflame. She was an extremely powerful swordmaster capable of defeating tens of thousands of people in a single battle. However, despite their strength, their Flame-Chase encountered defeat, leaving both Cerydra and Hysilens to fade into history. Later, they would be succeeded by Aglaea, who would start the Chase anew.
