Alex Garland’sElden Ringmovie presents some interesting questions when it comes to casting, and there will be few roles as difficult to cast as Morgott. As the lone regent of Leyndell, Morgott is the one left to pick up the pieces in the wake of the Shattering, and as one ofElden Ring’s most important players, it seems likely that he could play an important role in showing the hypocrisy of the Golden Order.

AnElden Ringmoviepresents a chance for some new takes on Morgott’s character, and the right casting could absolutely make his character. Morgott struggles to reconcile his omen blood with the tenets of Radagon’s religious fundamentalism, causing Morgott to both champion his step-father’s cause and simultaneously resent his own cursed blood. There is a determination and dual nature to the character that could make him a really compelling feature of a film coveringElden Ring’s narrative, and Morgott could provide an interesting challenge to all kinds of actors.

5 Actors Who Could Play Morgott in the Elden Ring Movie

Michael Sheen

Michael Sheen is an actor who has seemingly tried to play a different character in everything he does, and his avoidance of being typecast has led to some interesting roles. FromAziraphale inGood Omensto House inDoctor Who, Michael Sheen has an uncanny ability to make his parts seem larger than their on-screen appearance, and he would be a great casting for a complex portrayal of Morgott and his struggles to keep the Golden Order from completely fracturing. His voice talent is also well-known, and he’d likely be able to capture Morgott’s iconic style.

Charles Dance

Whether it’s for his frightening depiction of Tywin Lannister, or dancing in pink booty shorts onAli G, Charles Dance’s characters have a certain composure that would feel right at home with Morgott. Feeling bitter and betrayed,Morgott dedicated himself to the Golden Order, championing the cause of gold despite his omen status, and Charles Dance would bring so much life to a Morgott who is unhealthily dedicated to a regime that hates his existence. Just imagining Charles Dance reading Morgott’s lines should be enough to show why he’d be a strong pick for Leyndell’s hidden monarch.

Anthony Hopkins

For an older interpretation of Morgott, there would be few better than Anthony Hopkins. His ability to lend class to psychotic individuals would be perfect for Morgott’s self-flagellating nature. Perhaps his most stand-out role,Hannibal Lecter inSilence of the Lambswould be an excellent touchstone for a Morgott tormented by his omen blood, suffering from deep Stockholm Syndrome that seems him do anything for the good of his absent parents’ order.

Mads Mikkelsen

Yet another Hannibal Lecter on the list, Mads Mikkelsen’s casting as Morgott could look very different to Anthony Hopkins. Mikkelsen’s approach to acting could lead to a very different, commanding Morgott, far more in control of the situation, and possibly, quite antagonistic. AsMorgott rules Leyndell in secret, Mikkelsen would be a bit of a sleeper pick to show how Morgott runs the operation from behind the scenes, manipulating others to do his dirty work, and a scene between Mikkelsen’s Morgott and Mohg would surely be unforgettable.

Christian Bale

While he could be a very unlikely take on the character,Christian Bale’s method actinghas led him to some very unusual roles. While it’s mostly for Bale’s sheer commitment to a character that he could do Morgott justice, he is also helped by a catalog of fantastic performances like Patrick Bateman inAmerican Psychoand Howl fromHowl’s Moving Castle. Bale’s single-minded ability to get into character can be a double-edged sword, but more than most, anElden Ringmovie deserves this kind of attention to detail.
