Since releasing at the end of last year,Marvel Rivalshas proven to be a solid hero shooter based on the massively popular comic book brand.Marvel Rivalspits 6v6 teams against one another in action-packed matches starring some of the biggest Marvel names around, while also introducing plenty of underrated characters, as well.

Whether it’s Jeff the Land Shark or Thor,Marvel Rivalsmakes sure its character lineup is incredibly diverse. There are plenty of great options featured on the game’s roster, butone of the most standout is Cloak & Dagger. This duo requires players to control two characters in one, and it’s a brilliant way to further showcase Cloak & Dagger’s strong connection as a team. If DC ever wanted to follow in Marvel’s footsteps, there is one specific duo that could be a great rework ofMarvel Rivals' Cloak & Dagger approach: Fire and Ice.

Fire and Ice Could Be DC’s Answer to Marvel Rivals' Cloak & Dagger

DC’s Very Own Dynamic Duo

While these two heroes weren’t always a duo, Fire and Ice have now become a tight-knit two-some. As their names suggest, their powers balance each other out, which could pave the way for a fascinating character ina DC hero shooter. Cloak & Dagger presents players with a fun balancing act that requires players to swap between Dagger’s more healing-focused abilities and Cloak’s damage mechanics.

If a hero shooter inspired by DC were ever made, Fire and Ice could take this same approach, with one being a healer and the other being more damage-focused. It feels more likely that Fire would take on the damage role. Of course, Ice is still incredibly skilled in combat, but Fire’s more aggressive fire breath powers would likely work better for damage, at least visually. However, it’s also important to note that Fire’s green flame can repair her damaged costume, so there is also a canon reason why she would make a good healer in a duo-based character. Making sure every character’sabilities inMarvel Rivalsare balanced is no easy task, but the fact that Cloak & Dagger can play so smoothly is impressive.

What makes Cloak & Dagger so much fun to play is how versatile their ability kit is. If Fire and Ice were picked for a DC version, there would be plenty of the same versatility to work with. Fire and Ice’s team-up makes them stronger overall, since their opposing powers are actually complimentary. It might prove difficult to capturethe magic of Cloak & Daggerin a different game, but it’s definitely not impossible.

Right Now, a DC Hero Shooter is Only Wishful Thinking

DC has been in a video game rut lately, and it’s proving to be hard to get out of. BetweenSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguenot performing well and Monolith’sWonder Womangame getting canceled, the brand is in need of a win, at least in gaming. Taking the hero shooter route would definitely ignite some claims of simply being aMarvel Rivalscopycat, but the game has proven that it’s a great formula for superheroes. It would only make sense for DC to want to try and replicate that success for itself.

AsMarvel Rivalscontinues to grow, it will be interesting to see if DC ever jumps on the hero shooter bandwagon. There could be a lot of potential for a DC take on the 6v6 shooter, but only time will tell if the company ventures into those waters.
