Despite not every player enjoyingStarfield, Bethesda has undeniably remained committed to the project and making it the best it can possibly be. The developer is still releasingnewStarfieldupdatesalmost two years after its release, and the game is definitely in a better state than it was at launch. However, for some players, the window for grabbing their attention has long passed, so it’s commendable that updates are still released regardless.
Speaking toThumb Wars, former Bethesda developer Nate Purkeypile gave his thoughts onStarfieldand its shortcomings in the eyes of many gamers. “I think Starfield is a bit too sterile of a game, and that’s why it doesn’t resonate with quite as many people.” He also spoke on his hopes for the studio’s future titles, saying, “I just hope they go back to their roots a bit and embrace the personal expression of devs and having things a bit weirder.” EvenStarfieldfans have no shortage of complaintsabout the game, but it’s interesting to see what someone who actually worked on it thinks.
Purkeypile, who worked on all ofFallout 3,Fallout 4,Skyrim, andStarfield, has beenoutspoken in the past about his views onStarfield. In the interest of balance, it should be noted that not every player feels this way -Starfieldwas still a strong performer for Bethesda, and with a Top Critic Average of 85 on review aggregator site OpenCritic, it clearly has its supporters. However, there is evidently a lot of feedback that Bethesda can use to improve its future products massively.
